Diving in Cancún
Description:
Cancun, Mayan word which means snake nest, is located at North of the Yucatan peninsula in the Quintana Roo State in front of a beautiful beaches with blue turquoise ocean. A place for the whole family that some people call “The little Miami” with its Hotel Zone where you can find 5 star and Grand Tourism Hotels which the most are all inclusive resorts. Cancun, a place of bars, luxury malls and discotheques with also many attractive water activities as wave runners, sailing, snorkel, wind surf, swim with dolphins and of course diving!
Cancun has the main American franquicies of American restaurants, Banks, taxies, international airport and convention center.
Many people doesn’t know that Cancun has excellent dive sites for beginners and for certified divers. Shallow sites from 30 to 60 feet/10 to 18 meters are specially recommended for beginner divers, first timers and for divers with a long period of inactivity. This and the large amount of fishes make the diving in Cancun something highly recommended.
Its underwater grass is home for conchs and sea turtles so if you are lucky you can see some of those. Because the reefs at Cancun are pretty shallow, this make the sun lights come down to the bottom making life grow every where, so you will see more colorful fish than in any other place around here.
Cancun also has a wreck, it was sunk to create an artificial reef, “Barrera C-55” is laying at 90 feet/30 meters deep. This wreck dive is recommended for advance divers, experience divers with a minimum of 20 logged dives or divers doing their deep dive or wreck dive as part of their advance course or deep or wreck diving specialty, due depth and strong current present.
Of course that because Cancun has shallow reefs and a lot of fish is ideal for night diving, during wich you have a lot of chances to see the bioluminescence from plankton, jacks, lobsters, sea urchins, parrot fish and maybe nurse shark and sea turtle. We jump of the boat at sunset (twig light dive) and ending our dive at night to make of this night diving experience a relaxed, interesting and unique adventure!
Logistic:
If you are in a Cancun Hotel we´ll pick you up at your Hotel:
*At 08:00 a.m. if you are certified diver with a minimum of 20 logged dives or advance diver, then we take you to our marina to leave by boat at 09:00 a.m. and to make two dives at 55 pies/18 metros deep, both dives (with the exception of our wreck diving which is at 90 feet/30 meters deep).We come back to the marina around 12:30 hrs more or less.
*At 10:00 a.m. if you are beginner and you are taking our PADI discover scuba diving experience or your PADI open water diver course, or if you are certified diver with a long period of inactivity and you are taking a refresher course to review basic skills. Then we will take you to our marina to take your confined water training and then go to the reef leaving by boat at 01:00 p.m., to make two dives at 30 feet/10 meters deep both and come back to the marina around 04:30 p.m. and then we´ll bring you back to your Hotel.
During our surface interval between both dives, on board we give you fruit, cookies and purified water.
If you need part or all equipment required to dive, we have equipment rental (BCD, regulator, mask, fins, and wet suit)
Schedule:
Pick up 08:00 a.m. for two tank reef dives and for two tank diving (wreck and reef).This dives are recommended for advance divers, experience divers with a minimum of 20 logged dives or divers doing their deep, wreck or drift dive as part of their advance course or deep, wreck or drift diving specialty, due depth (wreck) and strong current present (both wreck and reef).
Pick up 10:00 a.m. for confined water training at the marina and then to leave at 01:00 p.m. to make two dives at the reef. These dives are highly recommended for beginners, discover scuba divers, open water training dives for open water diver course, refresher course, nervous divers and certified divers with a long period of inactivity.
Pick up 05:00 p.m. or 06:00 p.m. depending on winter or summer season, for one tank night diving. Night dive is recommended for advance divers, experience divers with a minimum of 20 logged dives or divers doing their night dive as part of their advance course or night diving specialty, due strong current present.
Pick up 12:00 hrs for snorkeling tour (11:00 a.m. if require previous training and practicing)
Included:
Transportation from Cancun: Hotel-Marina-Hotel.
National marine park fee.
Transportation by boat from our marina to the dive sites and back to the marina. During our surface interval between both dives, on board we give you fruit, cookies and purified water.
Tanks and weights rental.
Not Included:
Meals or drinks except for those mentioned included and given on board of our diving boat during our surface interval.
Wet suit. Equipment rental (BCD, regulator, mask, fins). Photo and video. Anything not mentioned in our “Included” section.
Price:
75 usd p/p two tank reef diving for certified divers.
65 usd p/p one tank night diving for certified divers.
85 usd p/p two tank diving (one wreck dive at 90 feet/30 meters deep and one reef dive at 55 feet/18 meters deep) .
90 usd p/p Discover Scuba Diving Experience for beginners, first timers or not certified divers.
45 usd p/p Refresher course.
35 usd p/p Snorkeling tour.
Requirements:
To show certification card and log book is mandatory.
To fill a liability release and assumption of risk agreement and the standard safe diving practices statement of understanding forms the ones will be given to read and to sign at the marina (when the participant is a under 18 years old, is mandatory that a parent read, understand and sign those forms as the participant and to read and understand the Youth Diving: Responsibility and Risks flip chart and to sign the Youth Diving: Responsibility and Risks Acknowledgment.
To fill a medical statement, liability release and assumption of risk agreement and the standard safe diving practices statement of understanding forms the ones will be given to read and to sign at the marina (when the participant is a under 18 years old, is mandatory that a parent read, understand and sign those forms as the participant and to read and understand the Youth Diving: Responsibility and Risks flip chart and to sign the Youth Diving: Responsibility and Risks Acknowledgment.
Be healthy and not to have nasal congestion the days of the dives.
Tips:
To take a light and energetic breakfast at your Hotel as fruit, cereal, milk, honey bee, etc...
To bring a photo camera and sun glasses.
To bring cash for souvenirs, tips, buy photos, buy video, drinks or meals not included.
To bring a towel.
To bring sun block protection, biodegradable or reef friendly as contribution with the conservation of the environment (please put the sun block when you are leaving your Hotel to you skin absorber it and works efficiently).
To bring comfortable shoes and chocolate bars.
